Sacramento Event Recap

By Frank Klesitz in Frank's Diary on Aug 6, 2024

I just got back from Sacramento where Brent asked me to speak at his monthly agent event on how to reconnect with your neglected database with email, social media, and video to get more listings.

Look at this incredible setup when I arrived…

Here are the notes and slides from my talk you’re welcome to review.

I don’t know the actual number, but I bet this two hour talk cost him $10,000 or more in room, lights, A/V, and labor to pull off.

Yes, it could have been a webinar. In fact, Brent could have just emailed out a video. With his list, I would have done it for free.

Brent is - I believe - the top recruiter at his brokerage.

I asked him “Why do you pull out all the stops for these events? Why so much production value? Why spend so much? I think I know the answer, but I want to hear it from you.”

He said, “We have to get people excited with energy and enthusiasm to act.”

That’s wisdom right there.

His response resonates deeply with me, because delivering your material on stage at a real event costs significantly more money, time and resources over a webinar.

And Brent intuitively knows that’s where the value premium lies.

He spends money to solve the human behavior problem, not just the knowledge problem. He is one of the very best examples of this in our industry.

I’ve said for years true difference between a big-time agent recruiter and small-time recruiter is who’s willing to sign the contract on expensive event space.

Think about it. Do you hold a free webinar, or do you hold it at the local country club with dinner and nice wine, with a $100 ticket you give only to your VIPs for free?

As we all take on a more difficult market, both from an existing home sales standpoint and an uncertain buyer-side commission outlook, think about how you’re going to get agents and sellers excited to act when you are their trusted guide.

The venue matters.

I think now is the time to put on a Business Planning Workshop for agents if you’re a recruiter and a Home Selling Workshop for sellers if you want deals.

Here’s an example promo video for a Real Estate Agent Business Planning Workshop in Utah…

And here’s an interview with a top agent in New Jersey who’s made a lot of money teaching local home selling workshops in person…

It may be time to fire up your live seminar or event strategy again if we need to get people off the fence to act. It’s a great way to get your video content too, all baked into the strategy.

Hire a video person on Thumbtack to record it, and use that recording as the source for all your database marketing videos. We can use those videos and cut it up for your content with us.

Thank you Brent!

P.S.  I’ll be at his event in Cabo coming up in March next year: https://www.cabo2025.com/
